📘 Course Introduction

✨ Brief

This course explores Paul’s Second Letter to the Corinthians, the most personal of all his letters, written to a church he loved but that had begun to doubt him.

Through 12 structured lessons, students will see Paul’s heart as a servant of Christ: his sufferings, his integrity, his ministry of reconciliation, and his confidence that God’s power is made perfect in weakness.

The course moves from affliction to comfort and from weakness to strength—teaching believers how to serve faithfully when ministry is hard and misunderstood.

📖 Full Course Summary

Second Corinthians shows the inside of Christian ministry. After his first letter, false teachers attacked Paul’s character and apostleship. Paul answers by opening his heart, explaining the glory of the new covenant, and calling the church to reconciliation, generosity, and faithfulness. This course provides a structured journey through the letter and its lasting lessons for every servant of God.

🔹 Background of the Letter (Foundation)

The course begins with the setting of the letter:

  • Paul’s concern after sending his first letter
  • Titus’ report and Paul’s relief and joy
  • False teachers who questioned Paul’s integrity and authority

👉 Paul defends himself not for his own glory, but for the sake of the gospel

🔹 Comfort and Integrity (Chapters 1–2)

Paul begins with God’s comfort in suffering:

  • The God of all comfort comforts us in all our troubles
  • Paul’s change of plans was not fickleness, but love
  • God has sealed us and given the Spirit as a deposit
  • Christ leads His servants in a triumphal procession

👉 Those who are comforted by God can comfort others

🔹 The Glory of the New Covenant (Chapters 3–4)

Paul compares the old and new covenants:

  • The letter kills, but the Spirit gives life
  • The glory of Moses faded; the glory of Christ remains
  • We are being transformed into His likeness
  • We have this treasure in jars of clay
  • Outwardly wasting away, yet inwardly renewed day by day

👉 The power belongs to God, not to the servant

🔹 The Ministry of Reconciliation (Chapters 5–6)

The heart of the gospel is reconciliation with God:

  • We walk by faith, not by sight
  • If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation
  • We are Christ’s ambassadors: “Be reconciled to God”
  • God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us
  • The servant’s life is full of paradoxes: sorrowful, yet always rejoicing

👉 God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself

🔹 Godly Sorrow and Repentance (Chapter 7)

Paul rejoices in the church’s response:

  • Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation
  • Worldly sorrow brings death
  • Repentance is a command we never graduate from

👉 True repentance shows itself in obedience and earnestness

🔹 Grace Giving (Chapters 8–9)

Paul teaches the principles of Christian giving:

  • The Macedonians gave first themselves to the Lord
  • Christ became poor so that we might become rich
  • Give willingly, not grudgingly—God loves a cheerful giver
  • Whoever sows generously will reap generously

👉 Giving is the proof of our love and a fruit of God’s grace

🔹 Spiritual Warfare and True Apostleship (Chapters 10–13)

Paul answers his critics:

  • Our weapons are not of the world; we take every thought captive to Christ
  • Paul was not a trained orator, but he knew the truth
  • The danger of false apostles who disguise themselves
  • Paul’s sufferings as his true credentials
  • The thorn in the flesh: “My grace is sufficient for you”

👉 God’s power is made perfect in weakness

🔹 Key Principle of the Course

👉 When I am weak, then I am strong

Suffering → teaches dependence
Weakness → reveals God’s power
Grace → is always sufficient
